Centro Stefano Franscini

The Centro Stefano Franscini is the international conference centre of ETH Zurich.

The Centro Stefano Franscini is situated on the fascinating hill called Monte Verità, "Hill of Truth", in the south of Switzerland (Canton Ticino) overlooking the town of Ascona and Lake Maggiore with its Brissago Islands.

The unique microclimatic characteristics in this sunny southern part of Switzerland generate an exuberant and evergreen vegetation which creates a mediterranean and particularly reposeful atmosphere.

Various conference rooms for up to 110 people, 73 beds, a restaurant with panoramic view and an experienced staff are at your disposal for 5-day international meetings with at least 50 participants organized by university professors or researchers working in Switzerland. Call for proposals opens every year (note the 14-month notice) and is evaluated by a director supported by a scientific board of experts.

Since 1989 the Centre hosts 20 - 25 conferences every year with a total of 1400 international guests.

From Locarno to the conference site, there is a bus shuttle available at the beginning and end of the conference.
This will be on Sunday Sept.14 from 14:30 to 18:30 every 40min approximately, with an additional tour around 19:30. Please indicate your exact arrival at Locarno with your registration, so that we can estimate the needed capacity.

If you cannot make it to the shuttle, use Ecotaxi, which is next to the railway station towards the lake. This needs reservation at the number +41-91-792-21-01, or inside Switzerland at the toll-free number 0800-321-321.

Travelling by car

1. Motorway A2, direction Gotthard/Lugano until Bellinzona
2. Exit "Bellinzona sud/Locarno" (Exit 47)
3. Further on A13, direction Ascona
4. Exit "Ascona"

The road brings you towards a pedestrian area of Ascona old town. Shortly before the no entry sign, turn to the right uphill and follow the sign "Centro Monte Verità".
